Our lower elementary class this year is comprised of ages 4, 5 and 6 year olds. They will largely be doing kindergarten and first grade work. However, as in all our classes due to the INDIVIDUALIZED attention they receive, some students will be able to work ahead or catch up as needed in various subjects.

These little ones always take swimming at some point in the school year from the YMCA, as we want every child that graduates from Kingfisher to know how to swim. These guys also are incredibly entertaining at special events since they can sing LOUD!

Swimming Begins Again!!

The Hummingbirds will begin swimming lessons with the YMCA on February 13th and they will run through the 2nd week of April. They need a swimsuit, ties for hair, a towel, and a check made out to the YM for $45.00. This is a miracle price–usually, it’s around $100 more, but they give us a deal. Listening Activity

DIY Phone

Used fruit cups (cleaned)

String or yarn

Directions: Poke a hole in the bottom of two fruit cups.  Thread the string through the bottom of each cup and tie a knot.

Activity: One child whispers into a cup and the other child (adult) listens in the other cup.  It takes some practice, but it is a great way to help encourage listening skills.

“Telephone.”  Children (and adults) sit in a circle.

One person starts by whispering something into the ear of the person next to him.  Each person whispers to the next person what he thought he heard.  It is so much fun to see if what the last person hears is the same as what the first person whispered.
