DOOR LETTER FOR Week #9—October 24 to 29

We have many fun plans for this week and some of them are around our fall holidays. Every class will get to buy and carve a pumpkin together and we’ll be planning for next Monday’s Halloween Luncheon at Las Colinas Mexican Grill as well. We also are celebrating fire safety month by having safety talks with the kids, watching a fire safety video, and Kamisha Sims, Adonis’s mom, will come in full firefighter gear to talk to the Owls and Hummingbirds about fire safety. As always, we have Spanish on Tuesdays and on Friday we’ll have a visit from Dr. Eisenstein from Georgia State to talk about biodiversity and recycling. Some kids have brought in recycling projects to share and Dr. E will be giving out awards for the projects. And, last but not least, all children are invited to stay late on Wednesday for a FREE class in Drama from 3:00 to 4:00.

Monday—Falcons have Science today at 1:30 and the Hummingbirds may go buy their pumpkin this morning.

Tuesday—Spanish class is scheduled for today around 11:00 to 1:00. Everyone has a blue folder to bring back and forth to Spanish, so be sure your student has his/her folder on Tuesdays. At 9:00 a.m. we have a firefightin’ visitor to give a talk, so we’ll probably go outside later in the afternoon today, after Spanish is over. At 10:30 the Owls have science.
The Falcons go to the library on Tuesday morning.

Wednesday—is the library day for the Owls. The Hummingbirds have science today at 1:30 and the Falcons have it at 11:00. Today the Owls will go buy their pumpkin. This afternoon there will be a FREE drama class for the younger kids from 2:00 to 3:00 and another one for the older kids from 3:00 to 4:00. Kids can be picked up at 4:00 after the class. Flyers have gone home today (bright yellow) but you’ll need to register for the free class at www.ForefrontArts.com/Kingfisher. Elizabeth had a serious illness, but she is back and raring to go and ready to try this with us.

Thursday—is Art Day for the Falcons from 12:30 TO 1:30 and Hummingbirds have art from 10:30 to 11:15 today. Owls have science today from 10:30 to 11:30. Falcons will go buy a pumpkin this morning.

Friday—A regular day with hot lunch at noon (Fried Chicken, Potato Salad, Fruit Cocktail) and Dr. Eisenstein visiting immediately afterward to talk about science issues—biodiversity and recycling.

Thank you to Alicia for keeping the decorations going, even when the breezeway is more like a wind tunnel. Thank you to Kamisha Sims for donating her time and talent to fire safety. Thank you to Alexis for donating a huge chunk of time and attention to Yoga on Friday. Also, thanks to Alexis for donating the cd/radio player. And a huge thank you to Ceasar Salazar for bringing ice cream and grilling hot dogs for BIKE DAY!!
