Week #6—October 2 to 6

We have many on-going projects right now—the Willows are looking at seeds and plant growth, the Oaks are beginning a new reading unit with Henry Huggins, and the Palms are studying ecosystems and small biomes around the metro Atlanta area, which will call for a field trip to Medlock Park this week. We are planning  to check out a creek system and a small woodsy area with all sorts of edge plants and animals.  The Oaks would like to ride MARTA one morning next week to get a feel for the problems Henry Huggins is having with riding the bus.  We will not travel to the libraries this week as everyone has a book report due on October 9th and we’ll need time and energy to read the books and write the reports.

Monday (2nd)—an easy start to the week—no trips except to the playground after lunch.

Tuesday (3rd)—Palms go to Medlock Park today at 11:00. We’ll carry our lunches and eat there.  Then we’ll have time to
explore the various eco-systems available to us in the Park. Everyone should wear good walking shoes and anyone that wants to play in the creek needs to have boots.

Wednesday (4th)—Art for the Palms—painting to go with our social studies theme of the Middle Ages

Thursday (5th)—Spanish Class for everyone

Friday—Hot lunch is today from 12:00 to 12:30. Today hot lunch will be chicken pot pies over rice with fruit.  Friday afternoon we’ll do tennis at Briarlake Baptist on LaVista Road at 1:30.

Remember to Check for Homework each afternoon.  We have planners in Oaks that go home when homework is due.
