We have some interesting stuff to begin this week, including a “cricket biome” put together by the Falcons. I discovered the crickets are on sale at Wal-mart, so we’ll be able to buy some rather than trying to find some. The little kids have “filled up their buckets of kindness” and will be celebrating that tomorrow with a party. The Owls are finishing their writing on the Pioneer Movement this week, putting together a mural to sign off on the project and moving into a social studies theme on the early part of the 20th century–up to WW 2. The Owls will also be looking at pond ecosystems for two weeks in Science and then moving into the Human Body and Health. With all that going on, it is easy to feel a little overwhelmed, so we’ll make sure that everyone gets outside for part of every day so we can feel the natural light on our faces. WE NEED HOUSEHOLD MAGAZINES–ANYTHING WITH FOOD PICTURES SO WE CAN DECORATE OUR FOOD DRIVE BOXES–IF YOU TAKE BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS OR GOOD HOUSEKEEPING OR (FANCY EATING) ONE OF THE FOOD MAGAZINES–SEND US COPIES.

Monday (2/6)–A regular day with the afternoon being devoted to a fancy Valentine’s Day art project using the shoe boxes for the Owls and Hummingbirds. Alicia Hughes is the queen of this, so there will be glitter . . .starting next week, we’ll be going swimming at 11:00 a.m. at the Y!

Tuesday (2/7)–Pajamas and Pancakes in the Hummingbird Class!  This is a reward for being kind, caring, careful kids with their friends and classmates. Also, Tuesday afternoon at 4:30, a group of girls are headed over to start Gymnastics at the Gym on Montreal, so if anyone is interested in joining them, let Debbie or Alicia Hughes know. Of course Spanish is today, as well.

Wednesday--tour day for the school (several folks are lined up to tour and one parent will be coming for observation). The excitement for today is TENNIS is on–today at 1:30, we’ll be meeting our new tennis coach at Perimeter College in Clarkston–this will be for 2nd grade and up at $7/class. Everyone that has one can bring a racket, but they will have rackets, as well.

Thursday–Hummingbirds go to Stone Mountain’s playground for an hour this morning.

Friday–(2/10)–We’ll begin putting out our food collection boxes and Falcons will start putting together some of the elements of our cricket biome. Hot Lunch today will come from Matthews Cafeteria–Chicken Pot Pie, Mashed Potatoes, Corn on the Cob, Rolls.  Shad is out today, so Debbie will have the Falcons.
